First Back-to-Work Outfit Is Here

Tracking packages has become one of my favorite pandemic activities. Their arrivals and my tearing into them has given me something to look forward to. I ordered my first back-to-work outfit last week. If the tracking information online is correct, it should get here tomorrow.

I popped for some new clothes — real clothes — because life is making noises about moving back toward “before” routines. Covid rates thankfully, are declining. Governor Cuomo has announced some significant re-openings for later this month. Restaurants, gyms, museums, and offices will be at full capacity. Some business in the city have already begun calling employees back.

The organization I work for hasn’t jumped on that bandwagon, thank goodness. We have a phased re-opening plan for the summer and autumn that might not bring me back until October. We’ll see how it goes.

Until then, the office is informally open a few days a week for anyone who wants to go in. To me it’s still a jeans, nice-enough top, and trainers type of environment. At least until I can finish some physical clean up, like strip 2020 calendars and program promotions from my walls. They’re no longer a novelty. Also not a novelty by any stretch — the mess that computer techs left on my desk. They upgraded my accounting platform and left my desk and floor looking as if Radio Shack had exploded all over it.

So, I might have gotten ahead of myself with a new business outfit, but when the time comes to return for good, I’ll have something appropriate to wear to the office.

In the meantime, for me it’s still sweats, poring over favorite catalogs, and tracking more packages.
